Makalu Optics has engineered a lidar platform from the ground up, unconstrained by automotive compromises. Our architecture is designed for one purpose: to deliver the extreme performance demanded by industrial applications.
Our core architecture separates the sophisticated shared processing core from the specialized optical units, delivering design and execution flexibility and system scalability.
A centralized platform which serves as the "brain" of all our lidar systems. It houses the Transmit and Receive modules which include sophisticated optical multiplexed laser units and integrated parallel detector lines. The base provides the power, compute and control mechanisms that allocate capacity across and within each optical head.
Mission-specific adaptable optics serving as the system's "eyes". Each optical Head can have adjustable FOV, Resolution, and even directionality - all controlled at run time. The heads simplify retrofit design of lidar into existing form factor
Proprietary algorithms leverage unique hardware and superior signal for in-line object detection and tracking. First 3D perception algorithms that provide accurate segmentation, classification and tracking of objects at 100 frames per second.
Our system leverages proprietary algorithms to process data instantly—enabling precise object identification, tracking, and classification with exceptionally low latency. Unlike traditional approaches, we achieve this without relying on neural networks, ensuring fast, deterministic performance ideal for mission-critical applications.
